Kimberly Burrell Wiley, born on August 26, 1972 originally from Houston, Texas. Kim Burrell performed her first solo at the age of one year old with the church choir singing Andrae Crouch’s “Hallelujah Praise”.
Kim burrell started performing as an American gospel singer in 1995 with Her first independent album, Try Me Again. Kim Burrell often named as “this generation’s Ella Fitzgerald” because of her influential voices in the genre. Kim Burrell call her musical style as jazz gospel.
In one of Her interview, Kim Burrell were asked about the person that she look up to or that inspire her in music she said: “The first person that come to my mind, some people would probably say ‘how could she say that?’ um… I’m not a traditional person, I’m a God natured…I’ve tried my very best to be. One of the many voices that I know only God could have done this for him is Stevie Wonder.” Kim Burrell continue saying that Stevie Wonder inspired her because of his awesome gift.
Kim Burrell latest performance was in Bet Honors 2010 as she sang ‘I Believe In You and Me’ in tribute to honoree Whitney Houston.
